A: In ‘71 the camaro was alittle strange.
The only big block in the camaro was the 396, but that “396″ V-8 actually displaced 402 cid.

Q: Will it be worth to trade my 1978 Chevy Camaro for a 1971 ford mustang coupe?
my 1971 camaro has interior is done but the outside is not painted, doors and windows don’t work, dash is kind of mess up but runs great. The owner of the 1971 mustang is willing to do the interior before trading, door windows and dash are in place but car doesn’t start. is it worth it???? and also what is each car worth when fixed up????

A: That is a personal choice. I suggest sitting on the idea after you have gone through all the pros and cons what works, what doesn’t and what work would need to be done on both vehicles. After that, you can decide which one will be more beneficial to YOU as the owner.

Q: How many miles per gallon does a 1971 Camaro Z28 big block get?
I have a 1968 Pontiac Tempest and I’m thinking about get this Camaro. I’m wondering which one gets better gas milage.

A: should get about 19mpg if carb is not massive such as a holly 750… if quadrajet 2bbl 21mpg 4bbl 10mpg if heavy on accelorater…. have fun, i had a Z-28 great car, had to get rid of it to keep my license… raw power

Q: How do I get the door off of a 1971 camaro?
The passenger side door is stuck closed… inner and outer handles dont work… all the mechanisms seem to be working including the lock… but does not pop open… just need to get the door off… is there any way to do so without calling a locksmith???

A: As a locksmith, I would suggest calling a locksmith so you don’t break anything or cause more damage. You can wedge the door out from the window, you can grab the door handle rod and move it forward with the help of different tools. You can also try to manipulate the door lock mechanism. If all else fails, please call a locksmith.

Im looking for a 1971 z28 camaro, that is race ready, except it needs to only be a rolling chassis.

I want one that runs strong and would be a good everyday driver for high school. There can be some small dents and i will repaint it

A: well what model of Camaro Base,RS,Z28,SS i assume since you want a strong car you mean you want a (V8 Camaro) well you can get a
(350ci V8) in any one of of those modles i mentioned up above for the 1970 year as long as in only has minor dents paint chips scratches etc right well bro you can look on ebay,craigslist classifieds in newpapsers,car magazines such as autotrader and others heck bro you can even look in a junkyard and find a nearly undamaged body if your lucky and all it needs is work but will start up well for 7-GRAND you say is what you got to spend you could just get a fixer uper and make cherry with 7-GRAND the best thing to do is google it bro i can pretty much guarantee you you will find a 1977 Camaro in excellent,decent or a shell on ebay

Q: 1971 camaro engine enhancment?
so i have a 1971 chevy camaro. im looking to enhance the engine. right now its got about 375 horse with an original all stock engine. i wana get it up as high as i can without spending a fortune.

A: what is a fortune in dollars? Without a dollar amount, i dont know how far you need to go as far as swapping internal parts or punching out the cylinders or pistons and heads and so on. Edelbrock makes a top end kit that would include cam, lifters, aluminum heads, intake and carb to match your engine and give you a hp increase of at least 60 -100hp more. Around $2000 would cover the money in parts and you save on labor if you do it yourself. This is a nice weekend job or maybe just a whole day depending on what engine you have.

Before i get a 71′ Camaro rear end I wanna know if it will fit my 72′ Chevelle Malibu.Both are automatic

A: It’s not a bolt-in fit. The Camaro uses leaf springs and the Chevelle has coil springs.
Look for a ‘68 to ‘72 Le Mans, Monte Carlo, Skylark, Cutlass, or El Camino rear end.

A: I’m not sure either. I know it says specific years, but with car parts, most pieces from a generation fit each other. I know your car is a 2nd generation camaro, and so is that hood. Although I don’t know much about those cars, I would bet that it would fit your car if no front end modifications were made between your year and that hoods years. Also, you may want to look at minor things between the years like hood latch movement, mounting spots, etc that would deal with the hood.

A: You can use alot of parts off the 2000 z28 if you don’t mind custom fab work.

Of course you know the engine, transmission, computer, engine bay wiring.

You can also swap in the front seats wth out too much work, rear seats with more fab work.

I seen a few second gens with 4th gen dashs and gauges

The running lights can be used, the rad should swap in with alittle work

The center consol can be made to fit.

With a standard production engine of 340 c.i.d. for the Dodge and 350 c.i.d. for the Chevrolet.

A: The “DEMON” without a doubt.The demon is much lighter therefore the 290 Horsepower that the 340 engine makes has less weight to move and the “DEMON” will be quicker and faster.Plus the body lines on the “DEMON” are timeless.

Q: I want to buy a classic muscle car. Either a 1971 camaro or a Mustang from that era. Which would u recommend?

A: I would definately go with the Mustang…not only is it a better ride, but the resale value if you trick it out (while maintaining its originality) is far higher than that of a Camaro.
