A: I always use Craigslist and choose for sale by owner not by dealer. You can also try auctions in your area. Either way I would definetely check the Vehicle History first. I always use CHEAPVINSEARCH.COM for Vehicle History Reports, they are really cheap (only 9.99) , fast and very accurate information!

A: get a carfax report on it. have a mechanic look at it before you buy it. Try to look for defects mechanically and cosmetically.

look on the interior. ask if the car is a salvage title, meaning that it was totaled, but ifxed up anyway. ask if all the matience was done, and if it was, by a professional, or an ameteur? take a test drive and see if it runs smoothly. ask if there was any body work done to it, even if it was a small detn from a fender bender

if the car has been in an accident, that should lower the price into about almost a half. be sure to invest the 30 dollars and get teh carfax, just to see that he isnt lying. if the matiencing wasnt done.. just leave, because its gonna have lots of problems

but other than that, buying it should be decently simple. good luck!

I am looking around to see which places are the best to find used cars that sale for eight hundred to one thousand dollars. I look at the goverment auction sites but I am still not sure which place are the best to buy a car that sale for that amount

A: Auctions are a great place to find cheap prices on cars. Look on eBay as well. Check the NickelAds, your local paper for cars under $1k, and check out AutoTrader or CarSoup.

The best sites I’ve found are www.autotrader.com and Google Base which is at www.google.com/base.

I hate Craig’s list because I’ve encountered two people who have tried to scam me on that web site.
